This website
Apart from the enquiry form described below, the site sets no cookies and uses no advertising or tracking tools. The fonts are served from this site itself, not from a third party. The site is hosted by Cloudflare, Inc., which processes technical data such as IP addresses to deliver pages and protect the site from attack.
The enquiry form
The enquiry form on the contact page is provided by Tally (Tally BV, Belgium), which stores form answers and uploaded files in the European Union. When you open the contact page, the form is loaded from Tally’s servers.
When you contact me
If you write to me, I use your name, contact details and the information you send only to reply, to assess your enquiry and, if you commission research, to carry it out (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR). Invoicing records are kept for seven years, as Austrian law requires. Other enquiry material is deleted within twelve months if no research is commissioned, unless you ask me to keep it.
Family history information
Information about people who have died is not personal data under the GDPR, but family histories often mention living relatives. I treat everything you send as confidential, use it only for your project, and do not publish or share details of living people.
Your rights
You can ask for access to, correction of or deletion of your personal data, restrict or object to its processing, and ask for a copy in a portable format. You can also complain to the Austrian Data Protection Authority (Datenschutzbehörde), Barichgasse 40–42, 1030 Vienna, www.dsb.gv.at.
